The year that changed how I work
I started Wise Owl Marketing in 2015 to help brilliant coaches and service providers get found online. For years I felt guilty about not marketing enough. I dreaded social media. I’m an introvert, and the thought of performing for the algorithm made my stomach hurt. Blogging felt calmer, so that’s what I did.
Then in 2024, life got hard. Layers of hard that by themselves may have been manageable, but all together were just too much. In the middle of it I was diagnosed with ADHD at 50. I stopped marketing for a year to take care of my family and myself. No social, no weekly emails, no ads.
My business didn’t crash. The evergreen blog and YouTube content I’d published kept bringing in new leads, my automations kept nurturing, referrals kept coming, and recurring revenue held cash flow steady. The assets I’d built kept working when I couldn’t, and I kept paying my team and myself while earning a profit.
