How to Work with More of Your Dream Clients Who Happily Pay You What You're Worth

Don’t you just LOVE serving your dream clients? You know, the resourceful ones who find a way to make things happen even when life is crazy busy. The ones that do what they say they are going to do. Clients that prioritize the right things and don’t sweat the small stuff. Working with them is easy and fun.

Then there are the clients who have a kind heart, but just aren’t doing the work. They’ve failed to complete their tasks, they can’t find the time, and everything else is more important. You know you can help them if they would just do what they promised. Working with them is frustrating because you want results for them more than they want it for themselves.

It’s so much more fun to work with a client who matches us effort-for-effort and who is willing to go the distance to make the project a success.

Here’s what I’ve learned in my own business…

Our Clients Are a Reflection of Us

How are you showing up in your business?

Are you playing full out, making your business a priority, or are you prioritizing everyone and everything else?

Have you set healthy boundaries with your clients, team, and family?

Do you finish the projects you’ve started?

“How you do anything is how you do everything.” T Harv Eker

Stop accepting excuses from yourself and you’ll find your clients stop making excuses as well.

If you continue to allow your business development to slide to the bottom of your to-do list, even when you know it’s important to achieving your goals, your clients will continue to procrastinate their work.

I’m not encouraging you to work harder.

If you’re like me, you were raised to consider the needs of others.

“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” Matthew 7:12

Frankly, if you treat others the way you treat yourself, the way I see many online business owners treating themselves …

  • hustling and grinding day after day
  • burning the candle at both ends
  • working until you’re sick …

I don’t want to work with you.

Treat Yourself and Your Business Like You Would Treat Your Dream Client

Take care of yourself.

Get enough sleep.

Be a VIP in your own life.

Put your business growth ahead of your clients. When you put your clients ahead of your business, you’re not putting yourself in a place to deliver your best work. You’re also taking from the others out there who desperately need what you offer.

Focusing on YOUR business growth is the only way to grow your business and help more people.

How Do You Focus on Your Business?

Set aside time for yourself. Schedule it on your calendar.

I like to block my work time into 4 categories:

  • Maker time – During my maker time, I’m fulfilling the services my clients have purchased from me.
  • Marketer time – This is when I’m focusing on marketing MY business.
  • Manager time – Time for admin tasks, project management, team calls, tackling my inbox, etc.
  • Me time – It’s important to set aside time for me throughout my day, to eat, stretch my legs, do something creative and fun, etc.

I treat my Marketing and Me times as unbreakable appointments and I do my best to minimize the amount of Manager time I have.

Spend “Marketer Time” working on the things that are important to the continued growth of your business = earn more money working with your dream clients.

  • Develop a new program
  • Write a chapter of your upcoming book
  • Write emails for your autoresponder
  • Reach out to JV partners

Use your “Marketer Time” to do things that will move your business forward.

Spend your “Me Time” doing things that take care of you.

  • What makes you happy? Do that.
  • Are there things you can be doing that will make you look back on your day and think that was fun? Do them.
  • What do you love doing in your free time? Do more of it.

Ask yourself, what do I need most right now?

  • Would a 30-minute nap help you focus?
  • Are you stressed? Meditate for 5 minutes or do your breathing exercises.
  • Have you been sitting for hours? Take the dog for a walk.
  • Confused about what to do next? Journal for a few minutes.

The more you love on yourself, and the better you take care of yourself, the more you’ll be able to show up and play full out for your clients.

Strive to Be the Type of Dream Client You’d Love to Have

  • If you don’t take your business seriously, why would your clients take your business seriously?
  • If you don’t keep your commitments to others, why would your clients keep their commitments to you?
  • If you don’t invest your time, energy, and money in your success, why would your clients invest with you to help them achieve success?

In summary, if you want to attract more of your dream clients, become the person you’d love to work with! Take care of yourself and build a business that is easy and fun to own and grow. People will be thinking, “I want what she has,” and you’ll have more clients wanting to work with you than you can imagine!

Here’s a Tool that Can Help You Earn More Money and Work with Your Dream Client

Remember how I mentioned that I block my time into 4 categories? That’s actually part of a much bigger system of organization. The more organized you are, the less mental effort and time you have to spend figuring out what exactly you need to be doing and when.

  • When you are organized, you are focused.
  • When you are focused, you are productive.
  • When you are productive, your business grows.
