Appointment Funnel Challenges: How to Break Through Them and Launch Your Funnel ASAP

Hey there! I recently hosted a 3-day workshop with coaches and business owners to show them how to build an appointment funnel. (Join the waitlist if you want me to let you know when I’m running it again!)
The workshop was focused on the most time-consuming part of building a funnel, all the writing. We designed lead magnets, wrote conversion-focused funnel copy, and crafted an email sequence to get new leads to book discovery calls.
However, even with having all of your funnel and email copy ready to go, there are some challenges most of us need help with when it actually comes down to building the funnel.
If you were part of the workshop and your funnel is still set to draft, or you have tried building a funnel on your own and got stuck somewhere during the process, you’re not the only one.
In today’s post, I will share my mindset and tactical strategies to overcome obstacles when tackling something new in my business.
Focus on your why
Just like it’s important to know your why when you are starting a business, it’s important to remember your why when implementing something new.
Your why is your lighthouse guiding you towards your goal and keeping you focused when things feel difficult. Here are some ways knowing your why can help you in your business:
- Motivation and resilience – Keeping that vision of your why in front of you will help pull you through complex challenges and setbacks. Things might feel hard at times, but your why will pull you through to the good times to come.
- Clarity and focus – Being clear on your why can help you prioritize your time and attention, so you spend it on the most important things instead of pinging from one meaningless thing to the next.
- Honoring your values and staying true to yourself – your why is your true north to help you make those tough decisions that keep you in alignment with what’s most important to you.
Here are a few journal prompts to help you clarify your why
- Why am I doing this?
- What’s my ultimate goal?
- What impact do I want to have?
Let’s get specific as to why building an appointment funnel might be worth it in your business
Imagine yourself a month or two from now, and you have a steady stream of discovery calls with your ideal clients filling up your calendar.
- How empowered and confident does it make you feel?
- How much security and hope for your future does that give you?
- What is the long-term impact that would have on your business and life?
- Would you work with the same clients? Would you raise your prices?
- Where would you focus your time and energy if you had an automated way to generate discovery calls?
How to break through and overcome five common funnel-building obstacles
Here are five common reasons why you might struggle to finish your funnel, along with journal prompts you can use to help you overcome these obstacles:
#1 Technical difficulties
Let’s be honest; building a funnel can require a certain level of technical know-how, but don’t let that hold you back. There are three main ways for even the most technically challenged business owner to get a funnel online: trial and error, getting someone to teach you how, or giving it to someone else to do.
Journal prompts to help you overcome technical difficulties:
- What specific technical challenges am I facing?
- Is this worth my time to learn how to do this?
- If you need to do it again in the future, it may be worth your time to learn it.
- If doing it yourself makes sense and you need a confidence boost, ask yourself:
- What are three (3) or more ways I could overcome these challenges?
- When else have I overcome a technical difficulty in the past? What helped me get through it?
- Where can I find the information to teach me how to do this?
- If doing it yourself makes sense and you need a confidence boost, ask yourself:
- If you need to do it again in the future, it may be worth your time to learn it.
- Outsourcing may be a better option if this is an isolated need, and you’re unlikely to need to do it again.
- If outsourcing feels like the best option, ask yourself:
- How might it benefit me, in the long run, to outsource this instead of doing it myself?
- Who could help me solve this problem?
- Am I willing to invest in the resources or support I need to succeed?
- How can I find a way to invest in the resources or support I need?
- If outsourcing feels like the best option, ask yourself:
#2 Lack of time
Building a funnel can be time-consuming, especially if it’s your first time. But, the investment should pay off in time saved and revenue generated as you look to the future of your business. Prioritize your time and commit to making progress, even if it’s just a little bit each day.
Journal prompts to help you find time to work on your funnel:
- How can I make time to build my funnel?
- What tasks or projects can I delegate or eliminate to free up time?
- What specific actions can I take to make progress every day?
#3 Perfectionism
Getting caught up in trying to make everything perfect before launching your funnel is easy, but remember, “done is better than perfect”. Launch your funnel and iterate as you go.
Journal prompts to help you work through your perfectionism:
- What specific aspects of my marketing funnel am I trying to make perfect?
- What steps can I take to launch my funnel sooner rather than later?
- How can I shift my mindset to focus on progress instead of perfection?
#4 Lack of confidence
Building and launching a funnel requires confidence in yourself and your offer, but don’t let fear hold you back.
I have noticed that the closer we get to “launch day,” the more nervous my clients become. They start second-guessing themselves, tweaking this and tweaking that. They’re feeling a lack of confidence and are afraid to be seen, like stage fright.
Believe in yourself and the value you offer, and take a leap of faith.
If you’re feeling a lack of confidence about launching your funnel, these journal prompts might help:
- What specific fears or doubts am I experiencing?
- How can I address these fears or doubts and build my confidence?
- What evidence do I have that I can build and launch a successful funnel? (What other projects were you unsure of but eventually reached a level of success that made you feel proud?)
#5 Unclear messaging
Step back and clarify your messaging if your funnel copy feels confusing or needs to be more compelling. (Tip: Grammarly is my favorite tool to help me simplify my copy and clarify my message.)
Your funnel copy will flow more effortlessly if you get clear on the value of your expertise, your offer’s value, and your ideal clients before you start to write.
Journal these questions to help you clarify your messaging:
- Who is my ideal client, and what specific problems or needs do they have?
- What unique solutions or benefits does my offer provide?
- How can I communicate this value clearly and compellingly?
Remember, the results of having an appointment funnel that fills your calendar with discovery calls with your ideal clients can be life-changing. This kind of leverage is how many other entrepreneurs live the abundant life of their dreams. I know you can too!
