Your email list is one audience you own and can control what they see. You don’t own the audience who follows you on social media. The channel you publish on determines who sees your content. You are at the mercy of their algorithm. So, if Facebook doesn’t want to let your audience to see your post in their newsfeed, they won’t see it.

Everyone has email. When they opt-in they’re inviting you into their inbox. They are asking you to communicate with them. It’s an amazing opportunity to nurture the relationship and to build know, like & trust. It’s an opportunity to add value & promote your content, services, & products to a warm audience. It’s also one of the cheapest ways to market and will likely become your biggest traffic source!

3 Steps to Grow Your Email List

Step 1: Build your email list the right way!

Do not email from your personal email. You could be flagged as a spammer. You need to make sure your subscribers have an easy way of unsubscribing if they no longer want to get your emails.

Buy a subscription, or use a free version of an email service. Most will allow you to add an opt-in form to your website to collect leads. Make sure the one you buy also allows you to send autoresponder emails. That way you can nurture the relationship with your subscribers.

Step 2: Create an Irresistible Lead Magnet to Entice Visitors to Subscribe:

An irresistible lead magnet is also known as a valuable free offer or opt-in gift. They are a gift that you use to entice someone to subscribe to your email list. Popular lead magnet ideas are a cheat sheet, 7-day challenge, or a webinar. “Subscribe for Updates” or “Join Our Newsletter” calls to action may have worked in the past. Today, people are OVERWHELMED with their inboxes. We need to up the value tremendously to make subscribing “worth it” to busy website visitors.

There is a science and art behind creating a lead magnet that gets results. Pick one of the biggest problems your website visitors have. Then solve it quickly and simply with your free gift! Give them a glimpse of the promising future they can have. Help them imagine life without the struggle or pain they’re experiencing. When you can show them the possibilities, they’ll be begging you to take their email address!

Step 3: Create a Follow-Up Auto-Responder Email Sequence.

This will help you develop know, like, and trust with your new leads.

Your lead magnet is not enough to get most people to feel ready to do business with you. Nurture that lead with a series of follow-up emails that position you as a trusted advisor.

  • Share more tips or a deeper explanation of the What or Why of your free gift.
  • Share testimonials from other happy clients.
  • Share your struggle-to-success story or how you had or saw a problem and set out to solve it.
  • Share a “what working with you is like.”
  • Be sure to use intriguing headlines to keep your email open rates high.

In each email, invite your new subscribers to the next step in your funnel. Some common options are booking a discovery call or joining your Facebook group. Schedule your emails out over the next few weeks and months to keep yourself top of mind to your new leads.
