Hey there. This is Heather from Wise Owl Marketing and I want to welcome you to this week’s training video.

We’re going to be talking about the common marketing funnels mistakes that many people make. My hope is that by telling you what these mistakes are, you’ll be able to avoid the newbie learning curve.

Marketing Funnel Mistake #1: Not Driving Enough Traffic to Your Funnel:

Mistake number one is getting enough people into your funnel. I see a lot of people going to the effort to build a funnel, create a lead magnet, create their up-sells, and then they don’t drive enough traffic to it.

I recommend setting up a Facebook ad that can drive people to your landing page for your opt-in or for your offer. Facebook ads will allow you to have consistent traffic going to your site. The reason is, we want to have enough traffic in a small timeframe to be able to see how your funnel is performing.

When you have a large enough number of visitors coming through your funnel, you can then optimize the funnel in order to improve conversion. If you’re just trickling people through organic traffic, and it’s taking a long time to get those numbers, you’re not really going to know if your funnel is working for you or not.

So a Facebook ad is one of the very best things you can do in order to drive some traffic through your funnel in order to optimize it for a performance.

#2: Not Using Optimized Landing Pages

The next thing I see a lot of people doing is that they will drive traffic from social media or from their ads, a boosted post, or whatever traffic method they prefer, driving those visitors right to their website instead of to a landing page. A landing page is very specifically designed to not have a menu, an About You link, or anything that’s going to distract visitors from acting on the conversion goal that you have on that page.

Make sure you’re sending visitors to a landing page that’s optimized to convert that person, rather than sending them to your website where they can end up going down a rabbit hole.

#3: Not Asking for the Sale!

You have to make sure that you are asking for the sale and if you aren’t doing this, I encourage you to take a look at why. Is it that you’re not confident about your product or the results that you get? Go read some testimonials, see the transformation that you provide to people. Build your confidence up and ask for the sale because you have something that other people need and want.

Unless you’re asking for the sale, people are not going to buy. Don’t be shy about it!

I think especially in this time when we know a lot of people are struggling financially, as service-based business owners with a big heart, it can be hard. You may feel like promoting yourself is wrong or icky in some way.

Remember, there are people still buying. There are people who still have problems that you solve. And those people need your offers!

So don’t be shy about closing the sale. You can even sell a high ticket offer! If the value is there and you believe in what you’re doing, ask for the sale.

#4: Not Following Up With Leads

The next marketing funnel mistake I see a lot of people make is that they don’t follow up with their list. They’ll work really hard to grow an email list. They create a lead magnet, put up a landing page, and drive traffic to it, but they’re not building a relationship with the people who have opted in.

The goal of your email list is to build a relationship! If you think about your friends ⎼ who are you closer to, someone you talk to on a daily basis or someone you talk to on a monthly basis? The more frequently you email your list, the more opportunities you have to build a relationship with them.

If your email marketing is focused on getting results for people, helping them accomplish a transformation of some kind, and you’re providing value in your email list, you can’t email them too much. You could email them every single day and it would be okay. You just want them to open up that email and think, “Oh my goodness, I can’t believe they’re sharing this much amazing stuff. If this is what they’re giving away for free, imagine how good this paid program they’re offering might be.”

So those are the 4 most common Marketing Funnel Mistakes that I see people make.
