If you hate marketing yourself, I have some good news for you and some bad news.
First, the bad news.
If you are a service-based business owner, you absolutely, positively, HAVE to market yourself whether it’s your favorite thing to do or not.
Marketing is what gets you clients. Clients get you income. Income gets your business a future.
No marketing = no clients = no income = no more business.
So, you can’t escape the need for marketing.
Sorry, but it’s true.
Okay, now that I’ve got that out of the way…
On to the good news
What many people think of as “marketing” is usually more like “sales”. Basically, you meet with people 1-to-1 and talk with them hoping they will buy. It’s a very time-intensive process. Even in our highly-technical world most “sales calls” are still interactions with a person who is trying to make a sale over the phone or video chat.
That’s NOT marketing. Marketing is very different…when it’s done right.
Think of marketing like a bicycle. It has a lot of separate parts that all fit together to complete the unit. Sure, it takes a bit of time to put the bike together. But, once it’s set up, all you need to do is peddle. Now, you can get farther faster than you ever could by traveling on foot.
The magic of momentum is in the machine. Through it, you are AMPLIFYING THE POWER OF YOU to get results far beyond anything you could ever accomplish without it.
This is marketing. It’s about creating a system (or machine) that does almost all the work for you.
Once your system is in place, you can free up your time to do more of what you love to do while strengthening your bottom line.
So, the good news for you is that marketing yourself doesn’t have to be as painful as many people make it out to be. In fact, if you are doing it right (and admittedly that is a big “if”), you will probably find it fun and enjoyable.
That brings me to my challenge for you today
Take a look at what you are doing as your “marketing”. Are you enjoying it? Is it working? How does it fit with everything else? Are you able to automate more?
Overall, see what you can do to improve your system so that you can amplify the power of “You”.
