Graphic design is my life. I live it, breathe it, and work in various fields that utilize some or all of the skills I have learned in college. Obtaining the necessary graphic design tools and resources I need to complete all of my projects is very important to not just myself, but my clients. I want to be ready to complete any project I can. With this handy list we’re going to run through the important graphic design tools one can utilize. Some of the items covered here are:
- Color resources
- Apps
- Infographic resources
- Fonts

There’s already a pretty great post on this here
Apps and Tools
- InDesign: Page layout software utilized for creating everything print; brochures, newspapers, magazines and even ezines.
- Photoshop, GIMP, pixlr: Photo manipulation software, bitmap-based (great for JPG, PNG, and GIF files)
- Illustrator, Inkscape: Vector-based software to create illustrations that can be blown up without losing quality, great for logos
- Canva: Drag and drop format to create print and web design materials
Color Resources
These color apps/programs are a fun way (and most times necessary) to create color palettes to see which colors will work well with each other in designs.
Infographics
You can create beautiful image charts without the fuss and quickly relay your data info to your audience with these apps.
- Canva (I listed Canva twice because this app does a lot)
- Piktochart
- Biteable
